Virat Kohli, the man who played tremendous and single-handedly brought back interest in the cricket among many yesterday, is the new vice-captain of the Indian team for Asia cup. Chief Selector said that he is the future captain of India.
Srikkanth, who was on speaking to the media after announcing the squad for the Asia Cup to be played in Bangladesh from March 12, said Kohli was named MS Dhoni's deputy with an eye on the future. "We feel Virat Kohli is an excellent future captain. We need a futuristic view and we need to look forward," the head of selectors said.
Kohli scored a swashbuckling 133 runs against Sri Lanka last night to successfully chase the target of 321 runs within 40 overs to keep India alive in the CB Series being played in Australia. The 23-year-old batsman described the innings as "one of the best". Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar said Kohli's innings was "close to the greatest ODI innings".
