Ponting will lead the team in absence of Michel Clarke

Ricky Ponting has been asked to step back into the role of Australia Captain because of the Clarke's injury. Ponting will be leading the team on Friday match against Sri Lanka.

As Davis Warner the opening batsman had been the official vice captain of the one day team but they are not likely to put more pressure on youngster who has played only 13 ODI matches.

Inverarity said in a statement Warner has good potential to lead the team but the selection panel is of the view that he should not at this moment, have the added responsibility of captaincy thrust on him.

As Warner has been gained very good experience under Michael Clarke's captaincy and he will have the opportunity to grow his leadership skills further as vice captain to Ricky Ponting.

Clarke's injury could make critical situation for Australia. As he is one of the best Australian player.
